Click to view slideshow.Welcome to the life transforming ministry of Ndubuisi Eke. God has commissioned Ndubuisi to preach the Word in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

LIVING IN PROSPERITY

“Then Peter said Silver and gold I do not have…” These were the words of Peter to a cripple man at the gate called Beautiful (see Acts 3). These words have supported the doctrine of poverty and encouraged Christians who have found comfort and home in poverty. They say to themselves, if Peter can say, he didn’t have silver and gold, it therefore means every Christians should not be prosperous or have money.

Taking a Cursory look at this verse is the origin of such myopic thinking of poverty. When I took a closer look at this verse I discovered something amazing. Peter didn’t say silver and gold WE do not have, even though he was standing with John. It therefore, means the statement, “Silver and gold I do not have”, was the personal conviction and circumstance of Peter and not John. The statement is therefore not a general conviction and circumstance. It was a situation Peter found himself, I think John had silver and gold if not Peter should have said silver and gold WE do not have!

SCRIPTURES SHOULD EXPLAIN SCRIPTURES

As a theologian and Bible scholar, I learned the fundamental truth that scriptures should explain scriptures.

“Then Peter said Silver and gold I do not have…” Acts 3:6

“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts” Hag 2:8.

Comparing Acts 3:6 with Haggai 2:8

If Papa God has the silver and gold and I am his heir according to Galatians 4, why should I lack or say, “Silver and gold I do not have?” I may not have it circumstantially but in truth I have it. I must therefore, not settle for my circumstance but translate my circumstance into the truth that says “All things are mine.”

THE PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY

“The house that is to be builded for Jehovah must be exceeding magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries…” 1 Chronicles 22:5 ASV

The church is in the Kingdom Age; our singular theme is the good news of the Kingdom. To be an effective representative and herald of the message of the Kingdom requires prosperity.

And this Good News about the Kingdom will be preached through all the world for a witness to all people; and then the end will come.

Jesus said the Good News of the Kingdom will be preached, which means we can’t shy away from it; it is our obligation to preach it. But you can’t preach about the Kingdom message in spiritual and financial poverty. The house we have been called to build for the Lord is exceeding magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. It is not possible with just a penny, or few thousands-It requires billions!!!

DAVID HAD GOD not MONEY IN HIS HEART

David told his son Solomon, “I had my heart set on building a temple for the name of the LORD, my God.

But the LORD spoke his word to me by saying, ‘You have caused a lot of bloodshed and fought in a lot of wars. You must not build a temple for my name because you have caused so much bloodshed in my presence.

You will have a son who will be a peaceful man. I will give him peace from all the enemies around him. His name will be Solomon [Peace], and in his time I will give Israel peace and quiet. He will build a temple for my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will establish the throne of his kingdom permanently over Israel” 1 Chronicles 22:7-10

SUPPORTING THE YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED (1 CHRONICLES 22)

David, we all know according to scriptures as a man after God’s own heart. In his love and obsession for God he birthed a desire to build a house for the Lord. However, because he was a man of war and had shed blood God would not let him build the Temple for Him because the house of God is a spiritual thing. Instead, God chose Solomon his son as the candidate to build the Temple. David was not discouraged by this; that God wasn’t going to use him but rather prepared the required resources his son would need to build the House of God.

Most often God would call and use the young and inexperienced to build and execute a great vision. It is the role and duty of the old to support them in preparation for that work, by making adequate preparation before their departure. This was exactly what David for young Solomon.

Previous generations have squandered the resources the present generation would use to execute today’s vision because it was not them God chose to use!

I believe every believer must carry the same heart David had. Prosperity is not a tool for self aggrandizement or a means to perpetuate our greed and deceit, No! It is a tool to build the House of God. It is great wisdom to refuse prosperity if we know we have no purpose for it, because the Bible says, “Getting rich quick may turn out to be a curse” Pro 20:21.

Society grows when men plant trees whose shade they would never sit under.

David thought, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the temple that will be built for the LORD must be magnificent, large, famous, praised, and honored in all other countries. I’ll prepare the building materials for him.” So David prepared many materials for Solomon before he died (1Ch 22:5).

David was not afraid that Solomon would mismanage the abundant of prosperity being committed into his custody to build the House of God. Why? Because he knew quite well that those who have a purpose for prosperity will hardly mismanage it! He only prayed for God’s wisdom and understanding for this young man who was about to experience great prosperity in the cause of building God’s house.

Solomon didn’t have to work so hard to acquire what he would need to build or execute the vision of God for him. He got it by inheritance. The next generations of leaders do not have to struggle to carryout their God given vision if this present generation of leaders begins to understand the importance of leaving an inheritance.

Some of those who will experience prosperity may not be called like David to build or even carryout a great assignment for the Lord. Nevertheless, with great wealth of prosperity at your disposal you can support those God have given a vision to build through your generous giving.

Like Solomon, Ndubuisi Eke Ministries International (NEMI) is divinely called by God to build for the LORD a house that must be magnificent, large, famous, praised, and honored in all other countries of the world!

I CHALLENGE YOU TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE CHARGE TO BUILD FOR THE LORD!!!

This teaching titled the Mystery of the One Tenth is a special exposition on tithing by evangelist Ndubuisi. It is designed to revolutionize your life. It answers questions like what is a one tenth? Should I pay tithe in the New Testament? Who are those qualified to receive the one tenth in the New Testament? The roles of the five fold office and the mystery that surrounds tithing.

This article can be use in your cell group meeting, church service to educate your people about their questions on tithing. To order an MP3, MP4 of this teaching send an email to evangelist Ndubuisi.

THE MYSTERY OF THE ONE TENTH

The Haiti earthquake shocked the whole world as it rendered families homeless another earthquake has struck Japan once again. But the difference this time is that we have all seen it and the devastating Tsunami that followed as pictures were beamed around the world. We have had a window on the mighty forces of nature and their ruthless impact on humanity like never before.

This should register a very important truth in our heart that unless I have my wealth anchored in something beyond the natural I am liable to be a victim of lives unfortunate moments.

It is impossible for God’s people not to be driven to pray for those affected!!!

Like Moses we pray, ‘Teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom’ (Ps 90:12).

As a Church we are committed to praying for those affected by this tragedy. By so doing we also remind ourselves that we must not let one day pass without making it count, living with an appropriate sense of urgency and purpose. Let not one day pass when we do not turn our hearts to heaven and pray for the lost and hurting humanity around us – and then move into action to be bringers of the hope and restoration only God offers.

This should remind us as a church of our role as ambassador of Christ. Ambassador’s resources comes from their nation. We must have enough heavenly resources to fund every earthly need. We are the compensation in the lives of those Satan has robbed of joy, peace, and prosperity.

Please join to pray…

In a vision I saw a fishing net and it was completely full of large fish. The net had a hole in it and the fish escaped. Then I was shown a tool that would be used to mend the net. It was a special type of tool that the Lord was giving to some of His approved leaders of the church. This tool was for networking!

If you’re going to be part of the harvest, several churches will need to come together; laying down their private agenda and surrender to God’s eternal purpose. One church will not be able to hold all the fish. It will take several that network together who allow the Holy Spirit to lead them into one of the greatest harvest we have ever seen.

I believe this vision is Peter’s net. The 153 fish in Peter’s net represent the nations of the world and the Lord had Israel on the spit. There were 154 nations in the world at that time.

John 21:8-11 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. 9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”
11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken.

This net is for the nations. It’s time we ask the Lord to give us the nations!

Ps 2:8 Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession.

We will need to be joined together in spirit not in mind or soul. We will need to become servants to the Holy Spirit to pull this net in.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (2 Cor. 13:14).

The word communion comes from the Greek word Koinoonia. Koinoonia conveys intimacy, partnership, friendship, participation, sharing together and responsibility. Paul wrote to the Philippians church commending their generosity and care. He said, “Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble” (Philippians 4:14). To share (Koinoonia) in my troubles means literally sharing my affliction. The word “sharing” also means partnership, partakers in suffering. The word “affliction” in this context means hardships and difficulties. To help me in my troubles is a more concrete way of saying “to share the burden of my troubles. The phrase suggests the closeness of the bond that held the Paul and the Philippians together; they took Paul’s natural need to themselves. In other words, they took responsibility for him.

Therefore, it will do no harm to this verse if we translate 2Cor.13:14 to say, “…and the responsibility of the Holy Spirit be with you all”.

We don’t need to pled and beg for the Holy Spirit to come near because He is always nearby longing to share our affliction. Just as the Philippians church participated in financing Paul’s ministry; the Holy Spirit also wants to participate in helping us in our entire endeavor. The Holy Spirit will stand with us even when nobody supports our vision. He shares our profits and losses. When we find ourselves in awkward circumstances the Spirit takes responsibility in helping us. Paul said, “No church entered into partnership with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only”(Philippians 4:15).

Paul proceeds to say “even in Thessalonica you contributed to my need more than once when I needed help.” The Spirit never stops helping us overcome our distresses when we embrace His partnership. He does it once and again. As we awaken to the realization of the bond that holds the Holy Spirit and us together, we will begin to understand that the Holy Spirit wants to take our natural need to Himself. All of us are confronted with crisis or a decision about which we don’t know how to solve; with the responsibility of the Holy Spirit we can begin to access heaven’s wisdom and supply. I once shared this wonderful truth about the responsibility of the Holy Spirit being with us with my prophetic mentor who usually experience water enter his house whenever it rained. He began to ask for the responsibility of the Spirit. On a particular day it rained when he wasn’t at home. Thinking his entire house would be flooded; he got home and realized the rain didn’t get into his house. The only explanation for this was the Holy Spirit had shared in his affliction and taken responsibility for it. I have experienced several of this operation of the Holy Spirit in my life and ministry. Where I suddenly discover, the yoke is broken, the burden lifted, and a way where I thought there was no way. Truly the Holy Spirit compensates for every lack and weaknesses in our lives. We must totally depend on Him for everything.

When the Lord Jesus changed my heart and I became hungry for God I spent hours daily in the Scriptures. During these times the devil kept telling me; it wasn’t me the Word of God was speaking to but to the Jews. Some other times he will whisper in my ears that the Bible is not God Word it’s the opinion of men, ‘can’t you see Gospel of John, or the Epistle of Paul written on it?’ Throughout this period as I continued saturating myself in the Word, the Spirit of Truth was pulling down the stronghold of lies the enemy was erecting in my mind. Thank God today, I can’t think otherwise.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

The greatest stronghold of the enemy is the stronghold of lies. The enemy cannot overcome you until he has made you to believe a lie. That was how the serpent deceived Eve.

But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Our enemy is not wise but he is subtle, he is not powerful but he seduces us with deception (lies). Every lie we believe will result in compromise that will eventually lead to our downfall. What do you believe about God? What do you believe about yourself? Most of our self beliefs are entrench in error, lies of the devil. I have seen an entire society build their ideology and value system on lies of the enemy. World religions are birthed out of the lies that the leaders believe and pass onto followers. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

Truth is our greatest commodity and that is the foundation of the Christian faith.

But if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. (1 Timothy 3:15 NKJV Emphasis added).

Deception is truth distorted. And that is Satan’s number one weapon against you. We can never overcome him until we develop love for the truth. We must stand for truth if we do not want to fall for deception. Loving truth simply means loving the Holy Spirit; because the Spirit is the truth (See 1 John 5:6).

Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; (2 Tim 3:8 NKJV Emphasis added).

Truth is resisted when we do not allow the Spirit of Truth lead us into all truth Himself. Truth is the knowledge that comes from the Spirit of God; when He breathes upon the pages of Scriptures it leads to divine encounters; truth experienced is never forgotten. When we approach the Scriptures without allowing the Spirit of truth teach us our pride for knowledge increases but we are never able to come to the knowledge of truth but deception (See 2 Timothy 2:17-18; 3:7). Just like Hymenaeus and Philetus mentioned by Paul without the Holy Spirit people with good intention can be wrongly inspired by the angel of light (Satan) and led into deception. This is how heresies have been developed in church history. Not all truth is equal. Truth is multidimensional- some things are true, and some things are truer. Jesus knew the greatest battle we will fight on earth is the battle against believing the deception of the enemy. That is why He called the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Truth. The Holy Spirit has been given to lead us into all truth.

I would like to give you the opportunity to receive Jesus into your heart. This is the greatest decision you will make on earth. It is abnormal not to know God; it’s a sickness you must get the cure to now!!!

Confess this: Lord Jesus, I confess you as Lord of my life. I believe in my heart that you died for me and you rose again for my justification and I confess with my mouth, that I am saved!

WRITE TO SHARE WITH ME ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH JESUS.

2011 the year of MAGNIFICATION…

The secret to our magnification in 2011 will be Acts 1:8. The power (DUNAMIS) of GOD which is the Miracle working abilities has been given to us as a church we can’t afford to die in shame.”

A word for my Partners:

“YOU must have a renewed desire this year to study His Word indepthly. Spend time and visit people who will spur you on your walk with God.”

Prayer for my Partners:

“I PRAY for you that in 2011 every step you take daily will fit into heavens plan for your life and generations.”

MY HOLY SPIRIT

To have fellowship with the Holy Spirit I must learn to share my feelings, knowledge, hurt, together through expression in words. I cannot keep my feelings of love in my mind, it must be shared. I must learn to adore and thank Him! Pray in the Holy Spirit, welcome His presence and show my appreciation to Him. Without doing this I can never develop a fellowship. I don’t want to turn to the Holy Spirit only in times of trouble; I must learn how to walk with the Holy Spirit as a natural way of life.

Personal Thoughts:

GOD is not using me because I am a perfect man nor is He with me because I have it all worked out perfectly. He is with me because I love Him and my constant failing increases my longing after Him.”

Confronting The Spirit Of Leviathan

The first way that this spirit will attack is with his tongue. (Job 41:1) Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook, or snare his tongue with a line?

The lying tongue: This spirit attacks out of his mouth with lies, gossip, accusation, criticism, faultfinding and slander. (Job 41:19) Out of his mouth go burning lights, sparks of fire shoot out.

I asked the Lord about this and he showed me (Rev 12:15) so the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away with the flood.

This Leviathan wants you to be destroyed and carried away with the lies, gossip, slander and accusations he will bring against you and if he can he will carry your friends and those who labor with you in the ministry away in the lie and deception. He wants people to believe the lie and accusation against you. Number one, he wants to slander your character and bring reproach on your name.

If the devil cannot get you in sin, he will accuse you or even make up a lie against you when you are innocent (Prov 6:19 a false witness that uttereth lies} is one of his heads. We need to be sure to respond to these demonically inspired attacks that even can come from those closest to you being used by the devils purpose that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood and we remember to respond in a right spirit. We can not afford to allow Leviathan to operate in us, as we can become offended at the lie and accusations, criticisms or judgments spoken of us and strike back. To strike back or lash out is what Leviathan wants. It is with his tail in (Rev12:4) that he withdrew a third of the angels in heaven.

Leviathan is working today through the body of Christ and we see many churches, ministers and organizations bringing accusation against one another. There is a critical, faultfinding spirit at work in church today judging and speaking against moves of God, ministries and denominations different from one another.

We do not need fault finders and those who feel to be the watch dogs of Christianity but those who will restore the body of Christ (Gal 6:1) Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

Let us not forgot how many have been quick to judge harshly and criticize the body of Christ, find fault and publicly publish Christian dirt have too be over come by the same sins. Lets not let Leviathan work through us but lets operate in the anointing of Galatians 6:1.

Another way we can counter attack this demonic assault of the tongue and lies, gossip and slander by claiming Gods promise. “the mouth of the lies shall be stopped and ( Isa 54:17) No weaponed formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.

We need to start speaking this verse out and acting on it in prayer.

We also want to be sure this spirit has no truth in what it says. We don’t want to give him a foot hold by living in a lie in our lives. We can only effectively counter attack this spirit by living in truth in every area of our lives.

2. Miscommunication

(Job 42: 3 and 5) 3Who is this that hideth counsel without knowledge? Or in the amplified: who is this who darkens or obscures counsel without knowledge? Or as in another translation: who is this who seals up counsel?

In Job 42: 3 Job also declares Therefore have I uttered that which I understood not, v 5 I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth thee:

Job is trying to understand why what is happening to him is happening? God has this lengthily discussion with Job in ch 41 and reveals this principality Leviathan. Job repents in ch 42 and confesses that counsel and true understanding were kept from him. This spirit wants to get between you and the revelation of God and distort the word of the Lord. Leviathan will seek to hide from you true revelation and confuse the true meaning of things.

This Leviathan spirit will hide the meaning behind what is said and cause they’re to be miscommunication and misunderstanding. That’s how this spirit can sow discord among brethren. Have you ever been at the office or maybe in your marriage and something you say is taken the wrong way, someone will say, “you said this” and you say no “I said this” and you both think your right, or you say one thing and they hear it as another i.e.: you said it is black and they hear blue. Leviathan wants to get in between your conversation and hearing and distort or mutter what one is really saying. This can happen between friends, ministry and even children and parents.

When you become aware of this attack on your ministry or in your relationships it is important to simply say “levithan I bind you in Jesus name”

Recently we had a small misunderstanding in our ministry. A woman had given a large donation to our ministry and the church that hosted our ministry failed to let us know one individual had given a certain sum of money. We sent a thank you letter to the donor but we were unable to specifically mention the amount given.

The enemy worked on this woman’s mind and the accuser that he is told this woman that maybe we could not be trusted as a ministry or that because we did not specifically mention the size of her donation in the thank you letter that maybe the church only gave me a honorarium and not the full amount which I said would be entirely used for missions.

This individual who was previously working in another church had seen the church hold back on offerings. Leviathan works in suspicion and mistrust. This woman contacted our ministry and inquired about the gift she gave and again my office didn’t know a woman had given a large gift in the offering. The woman also believed I said I would use the entire missions offering specifically for Somalia. The devil in his lie nearly had this woman convinced that maybe I was truly not up front with my word and cast doubt, mistrust and questions on our ministry.

I never said that I was using any money for Somalia and the tapes and transcript of that nights service also verified we had never said that. The seeds of mistrust, lies of the enemy, and misunderstanding nearly cost me a dear partner. I met with the lady later and we prayed together and cut the devil out of our business.

I knew when I was in India and I received this bad report that this was the work of leviathan and we began to pray immediately. There was opportunity for us and this lady to be offended and accuse one another and the devil nearly cost me money for souls and a crusade but the Lord showed me in the midst of this attack the spirit of Leviathan and his accusation.

Leviathan will attack prophetic word

In (Gen 3:1-5) the serpent ( leviathan) is wanting to distort and hide the true word of the Lord from Eve. Leviathan wants to cast doubt, mistrust and suspicion on Gods word.

1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

The famous Has God said? Or is that really what he meant? Leviathan wants to twist God’s truth and rob us of our promise.

When this happens just simply bind this spirit from your prophetic promises.

I believe It was the spirit of leviathan that was keeping Job from the true counsel of the Lord and hiding from Job his own small areas of pride and self righteousness in is life.

When God brings Job to chapter 42 he is no longer the one who justifies himself but confesses that he had not really known God by revelation. Lets be sure to give all these areas of any pride or self-righteousness to the lord and ask for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in our life and ministry.

3. Sons of pride (Job 41: 34) He beholds every high thing; He is king over all the children of pride.

This spirit carries an attitude of superiority, haughtiness, boasting and arrogance. He not only works in this kind of environment but attacks ministries and individuals with the temptations of pride. Can you hear this spirit smooth and deceptive whispering in your ear? Who do they think they are? They do not move in the power like you do. Who gives them the right to speak into my life? The bible says too not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought to.

This spirit promotes self and self-serving agendas. We need to watch out for a false confidence, and keep a humble trust in the Lord. When God is using you mighty there is a constant temptation to play the name game or measure yourself with another and feel like were more successful because of how much money we raise or how many come to our church or how many miracles we see. How big are your meetings?

Power, numbers and what looks like God’s favor based on power. miracles or healing and success in casting out demons does not always mean we always are right with God. We need to guard ourselves from the “well I am to good for that attitude” I will only do this or that is you do this and that. This spirit wants to set you up with a false confidence and getting your identity out of what you do, rather than who you are.

Egypt and Leviathan

Lets look at Egypt for some insight on how Leviathan operates and what he did in that nation. In Ezekiel chapters 29-32 we have a series of prophetic utterances against Egypt and pharaoh.

One of the first sins of Egypt was its pride and boasting out of a false confidence in things rather that intimacy with God. Egypt puts its trust and confidence in its wealth, how many horses and chariots it had and the numbers of its people. This Leviathan Spirit wants to promote you ahead of the Lord’s leading and move you into a place, where you no longer totally depend on the Holy Spirit but on your gifting, charisma, finances, or denomination, traditions or programs.

There can come a place in ministry where we can get it done without Him, email lists, mailouts, websites, who you know! or monthly partners, lets go to the investors. We can begin to lose sight of Jesus and hearing his voice and getting our inspirations, visions, initiative or new ideas from his presence. Sometimes the devil will give you a ministry machine if he knows it will move you out where it all started in the secret place, if he can distract you and keep you busy and feeling like all is well because the marketing tools and infrastructures are in place, God is blessing me, the machine is running well.

There is nothing wrong with all these things that God uses, our ministry is a large ministry with all the tools, many staff, partners, huge infrastructure and were growing more every day. All these are vehicles to help me fulfill the blessing of God, but I need to keep my eyes on Jesus and remain broken daily before him.

There can be a place where we put our trust in the wrong things and this spirit will be your best cheerleader. In (Rev 12:4) it was with his tail that he withdrew a third of the stars, the angelic hosts who cast their lot with the devil we need to watch for the tail of leviathan.

Pride attitudes

Here is a small list of attitudes we can ask the Lord to show us any of these in our lives.

Condescending Attitudes towards Others in the Body: We are to esteem others as higher than ourselves. If we catch ourselves thinking of another as less than ourselves in any way, especially in regards to spiritual gifting, understanding, etc. must repent quickly.

Independent Attitude: We are to be united in heart as one, although we may all have different functions. If we ever feel “out there like we are just wanting to do our own thing” while maybe we are forgetting the fuller purpose of the kingdom which is to embrace the whole body of Christ.

Self Glory: Although it is good for one to enjoy the workings, dealings, gifting and blessings that the hand of the Lord brings to us, we must be careful not to think that it is because of our own greatness. All things are given to us as a gift of grace (undeserved, unmerited favor) and all the worship and delight in these blessings must be returned to Him who authored them. Remembering our helpless and humble estate without Him. We can never glory in our own righteousness; it is as filthy rags.

Self-Confidence: When we begin to feel a confidence in our own abilities to produce the anointing and the fruit of the Kingdom, we must be alert to the tempter.

Lack of Time in His Presence: Often times this is a sign that a temptation to pride has come. It indicates a possibility that we have become self sufficient and self ruled and no longer need all that we have and all that we are to flow from His Presence and Counsel. This is dangerous in that it can produce a mindset of “self rule” that subsequently asks God to bless and serve what man has initiated.

Critical and Condemning Attitudes and Thoughts: The heart of a “critic or accuser” is postured above others. The heart of a savior is postured in servanthood.

Boasting Over Achievements and Revelation, often times this is not an outward action but an inward attitude. (Note: this is of the sin nature, not the “boasting in the Lord” as Scripture speaks of.

Dishonor of Authority: We are to esteem and honor those in authority (even if they are NOT under Holy Spirit control, i.e. David’s attitude towards Saul). Attitudes of dishonor towards leaders often indicate pride in the heart.

Desiring to be served: Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. This is the posture of humility.

Desire for Reputation: Jesus was a man of no reputation in heart. He emptied Himself. If we have inner desires to be esteemed by others, we need to be watchful. Pride could be lurking.

Desiring to Control Others.

Use of a Position of Authority or Gift to Fulfill Selfish Ambition and Vision.”

The only way we can effectively counter attack this assault is to live in humility.

( Jam 4:10} Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he will lift you up. Do you notice it says, “humble yourselves”, this is something we chose to do daily and in every moment we feel the attack of Leviathan in pride. Choose to go low, take the position of (Phil 4).

The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord

by Todd Bentley

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Prov 9:10). It’s only when the Spirit of the fear of the Lord is upon us that God will trust us with the other manifestations of the Spirit upon us, such as wisdom, revelation, counsel, knowledge, and might (Is. 11:2)

The fear of the Lord is to depart from evil. It’s the guard that keeps us from becoming prideful, boatful, or flippant. It guards us from compromising our holiness, or misusing our authority or power.

The angel that went before Israel’s tiny army carried the fear of the Lord that caused larger armies to tremble and kill each other or turn and flee; this angel even destroyed enemy armies to grant Israel a great victory (Is. 37:36). When this angel walks with us, no gang or devil can get to us. There’s authority and power when this angel comes. He’ll go before us.

The “fear of the Lord” means “dread, awe, or the revere.” My definition would be: “Wow, wow, wow! Over God’s majesty, holiness, and strength.” The spirit bears a strong nature of holiness. He ministries to us and helps us to be holy. We can’t produce it ourselves. It’s grace from heaven. There are times that God comes in His presence or Spirit to impart supernatural grace and power so that we can be free of sin. This can only come out of His glory and presence, and it sometimes causes fear, dread, and terror (Ex. 20:18,20).

As New Testament believers, Hebrews 4:16 calls for us to approach the throne to obtain mercy and grace in time of need. Mercy is for the sins we’ve committed (we don’t get what we deserve). But God also gives us grace, which is an endowment of power to help us overcome sin. Grace even keeps us from the desire to sin. It’s as if we’re in a protective cocoon. The battle tips in our favor. So, when we sin, we don’t just ask for forgiveness but grace so we won’t fall again.

The fear of the Lord brings us into His presence. When we’re in God’s presence, we don’t want to sin. When we’re not in His presence, we sin and then the Enemy makes us feel so guilty that we don’t want to reenter His presence. It’s a catch-22. Guilt keeps us from the glory pillar-the refiner’s fire that can burn the sin tendency out of us. We can’t be holy without being in the glory and being in front of the throne of grace. Without holiness we won’t enter in, and it’s by entering in that we receive the endowment of power.

The fear of the Lord keeps us in check so the rest of the Spirits can work through us. What does He demand in exchange? Consecration, holiness, and separation from sin- simple to say, harder to walk out. Pray for that grace from the Lord, through the Spirit of the fear of the Lord which removes our desire to sin and gives you power over it.

Positioned in QuietnessThe Bible says that Mary sat at Jesus’ feet. Do you know what Mary was doing? She was listening. Because she positioned herself in a place of surrender and quietness, she learned to hear His voice. I can just picture her looking on the Lord’s face and thinking: Oh, You’re awesome. You’re so wonderful! She sat gazing into His eyes and listening to His voice. Soaking is also about positioning ourselves in prayer at Jesus’ feet as Mary did. I want to reposition you in your prayer time. Do you know Mary’s position—that position of quietness and yielding? Are you touching intimacy with Jesus, or are you more like Martha with her “to do” list?

I often tell the Lord, “Your presence is good enough. I just ant to be with You. I don’t want to talk to You about my cares or my needs. You know the things I have need of anyway.” Jesus said, “Your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things (Matt 6:30). If you can grasp this truth your needs will be met more frequently and won’t be dependent on your asking. Yes, one aspect of our relationship with God involves asking. But God wants to bring us to a new level of relationship that of lovers. In the natural, lovers often want to do things to bless their beloved, whether they’re asked to or not. God wants to draw us into this same intimacy.

Sometimes all I do is sit at His feet and bask. That’s it. Almost every teaching and revelation found on my audio and book table has come out of those soaking times. God has dropped revelation on me so fast that sometimes I’ve written four sermons at once. It had nothing to do with me; God would just burn the revelation inside me. Oh that’s where God wants to bring us! God is calling the church back to intimacy and friendship with Him. What does the Bible say God wants of us? “He has shown you, O man what is good; and what does the Lord require of you…to walk humbly with your God.” (Mic. 6:8). O, how the Father longs for you to walk with Him, to enjoy fellowship with Him. The Father longs for your presence more thank you long for His.

The Four “R”s of Meditation and Contemplation

Par of waiting in God’s presence involves contemplation and meditation on Scripture until the Holy Spirit gives us revelation and understanding of God’s heart and mind. Here are four steps you can take to practice meditation:

Read the Word quickly and out loud so you hear it.

Respond to it with your heart and mind. Respond to the passages that were most meaningful and reread those.

Recollect or meditate with an open mind and heart to god’s will.

Rest in His presence.

Following are some powerful scriptures to kick-start your meditation and motivate you to continue with this life-changing way of connecting with God and His Word:

With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:10, 11)

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16)

My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20, 22)

Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth.
(Deuteronomy 11:18-21)

In Him,

Being in the Presence of God

by Todd Bentley

Dear Friends,

If someone told you that you could experience increased intimacy with God by lying on your bed, relaxing, and listening to worship music, what would you think? To some that suggestion might border on blasphemy. Do you equate pleasing God with working your fingers to the bone, serving on twenty committees, or having a regimented quit time? If so, you probably feel guilty when you don’t measure up to those self imposed standards, don’t you? Many Christians are trapped in the Martha syndrome when they should be like Mary- sitting, resting at Jesus feet, and listening to his voice.

Through soaking, or the “contemplative life,” we get more of God and His presence in our lives. I’ve found more power and revelation in quietness than in any other form of prayer. I believe the silent prayer of the heart is the highest form of prayer. Some Christians seldom enjoy this place of prayer because they never learn how to silence their hearts, minds, and emotions and enter into true communion and fellowship with the Lord. I’ve heard from a great many prophets who say that when we learn to silence our thoughts, we have discovered the true secret to seeing in the spirit realm.

Through church history we can find a long trail of people who loved God’s presence and passionately sought after him. A group of these God Chasers were called the “Christian Contemplatives.” They understood the biblical practice of meditation Christians need to realize that the words meditate and meditations were in the book of Psalms long before the New Age movement existed. The Bible was the forerunner of meditation. Our ancient forefathers practiced meditation, as did the monks in the 1600s and 1700s. If the word meditate makes you uncomfortable. Try substituting “to think about over and over and over again.”

Who wants the power of God today? Who wants miracles, signs, and wonders? Those who do, need to learn to be still. Now, think about this- the Bible talks about the Spirits of counsel and might. Might is the Power of God. God’s might does not operate without his counsel. I am going to make an amazing statement: It isn’t that the church doesn’t have enough power; its that the church doesn’t wait to hear his counsel. We don’t take time and wait in stillness to receive visions of what is going to happen in a service. The Spirit of counsel brings the Spirit of might. Waiting releases revelation, which ignites power. In the church today we are workers, not waiters. We are doers, not soakers. We are extremely busy people who can’ silence our hearts and minds. It’s time for God to bring us back to the art of being in his presence, He wants intimacy with us more than we want intimacy with him.

Revelation in stillness

When I want to enter into the presence of God, I listen to instrumental music and lie on the floor on my back in total surrender. My focus is Jesus. I don’t pray in tongues, nor do I make request. I quiet my soul and wait patiently on the Lord. If we can’t overcome the busyness of our minds, we’ll never enter into the Spirit. It’s the first thing we need to conquer.

Psalms 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” The word still means “idle, quiet, and alone,” Here the word Know means “come to Know by experience or through intimate relationship.” It also means “to perceive, to find or to see, to become known, or to be revealed.” God had ordained more revelation.” of him self in stillness than in any other form of prayer.

Think about the power of stillness. The most common hour of revelation in the Bible is 4:00 a.m. – the fourth watch. Jesus rose from the dead between 3:00 a.m. And 6:00 a.m.

God delivered the children of Israel from the hand of Egypt in the early hours, and Jesus appeared near dawn to the disciples at sea. Often God comes when we’re just dozing off or awakening – the quietest parts of the day. I came to understand God and the power of His anointing by lying in His presence in stillness and quietness. I not only received a greater revelation of who he is, but of who I am in Him.

Waiting on the Lord

In scripture the idea of being still before the Lord is also referred to as “waiting on the Lord.” Waiting carries the idea of Hope and expectancy with it, it suggest lingering or remaining in one place, Knowing you are about to see or experience something. We are to wait with our thoughts on Jesus. Many of us who wait on God or “soak,” play music in the background to help tune our hearts to him, though sometimes we wait in complete silence. Either way, our thoughts and emotions become quiet before the Lord and we focus all our attention on Jesus.

As you discover the incredible adventure of waiting on God, you will learn to rein in your mind when it begins to wander. But press in, because after about two or three weeks of setting aside one to three hours a day of contemplation and mediation, you will begin to master your mind. It’s a discipline and it takes time to cultivate this lifestyle of waiting. When you learn to overcome distractions to focus on Jesus, you will have a breakthrough in the spirit unlike at any other time in your life.

Heb 12:2 describes contemplation in another way: “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” Yes, the soaking meditation I described involves looking unto Jesus and gazing at him. To gaze suggest turning your eyes away from other things and fixing them on something and staring at it. The word gaze carries the idea of studying intently – “seeing with the eyes and with the mind, perceiving, knowing, and becoming acquainted with by multiple experiences.”

Jesus is the author of our faith, but how does he become the finisher of our faith? I believe we need to have multiple experiences in the revelatory realm. For that to occur, we have to remain in his presence- wait in quietness and stillness. Isaiah 64:4 says that God is a God’ who acts for the one who waits for him.”

In my experience as I soaked and waited on God, He began to act- things got done and prayers were answered. To be honest, for a while I thought, All iam doing is lying around in the presence. I’m not doing anything. I’m not praying in tongues or reading the Bible. But that was exactly what I needed. Isn’t it interesting that the thing that gets God to move is waiting? I get more out of waiting in stillness and quietness than I do out of three hours of prayer.

Some people don’t feel that they truly connect with God unless they are doing something like interceding, praying in tongues, worshiping, or reading the Bible. The minute they stop, they feel that prayer is over and God is gone; they don’t know how to stay in the presence. When I say, “lets be quiet in his presence for half an hour,”

they start speaking in tongues. They are programmed to do something! The Bible says, “but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint” (IS 40:31) It all happens while we’re waiting. Here is another verse for you: “ In returning and rest you shall be saved: in quietness and confidence shall be your strength” (Is 30:15). If you want to enter into the Supernatural realm, Practice soaking and meditating for an hour a day- add that to what you already do.
