LIVING IN PROSPERITY

Then Peter said Silver and gold I do not have…” These were the words of Peter to a cripple man at the gate called Beautiful (see Acts 3). These words have supported the doctrine of poverty and encouraged Christians who have found comfort and home in poverty. They say to themselves, if Peter can say, he didn’t have silver and gold, it therefore means every Christians should not be prosperous or have money.

Taking a Cursory look at this verse is the origin of such myopic thinking of poverty. When I took a closer look at this verse I discovered something amazing. Peter didn’t say silver and gold WE do not have, even though he was standing with John. It therefore, means the statement, “Silver and gold I do not have”, was the personal conviction and circumstance of Peter and not John. The statement is therefore not a general conviction and circumstance. It was a situation Peter found himself, I think John had silver and gold if not Peter should have said silver and gold WE do not have!

  • SCRIPTURES SHOULD EXPLAIN SCRIPTURES

As a theologian and Bible scholar, I learned the fundamental truth that scriptures should explain scriptures.

Then Peter said Silver and gold I do not have…” Acts 3:6

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts” Hag 2:8.

Comparing Acts 3:6 with Haggai 2:8

If Papa God has the silver and gold and I am his heir according to Galatians 4, why should I lack or say, “Silver and gold I do not have?” I may not have it circumstantially but in truth I have it. I must therefore, not settle for my circumstance but translate my circumstance into the truth that says “All things are mine.”

  • THE PURPOSE OF PROSPERITY

“The house that is to be builded for Jehovah must be exceeding magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries…” 1 Chronicles 22:5 ASV

The church is in the Kingdom Age; our singular theme is the good news of the Kingdom. To be an effective representative and herald of the message of the Kingdom requires prosperity.

And this Good News about the Kingdom will be preached through all the world for a witness to all people; and then the end will come.

Jesus said the Good News of the Kingdom will be preached, which means we can’t shy away from it; it is our obligation to preach it. But you can’t preach about the Kingdom message in spiritual and financial poverty. The house we have been called to build for the Lord is exceeding magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. It is not possible with just a penny, or few thousands-It requires billions!!!

  • DAVID HAD GOD not MONEY IN HIS HEART

David told his son Solomon, “I had my heart set on building a temple for the name of the LORD, my God.

But the LORD spoke his word to me by saying, ‘You have caused a lot of bloodshed and fought in a lot of wars. You must not build a temple for my name because you have caused so much bloodshed in my presence.

You will have a son who will be a peaceful man. I will give him peace from all the enemies around him. His name will be Solomon [Peace], and in his time I will give Israel peace and quiet.  He will build a temple for my name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. I will establish the throne of his kingdom permanently over Israel” 1 Chronicles 22:7-10

  • SUPPORTING THE YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED (1 CHRONICLES 22)

David, we all know according to scriptures as a man after God’s own heart. In his love and obsession for God he birthed a desire to build a house for the Lord. However, because he was a man of war and had shed blood God would not let him build the Temple for Him because the house of God is a spiritual thing. Instead, God chose Solomon his son as the candidate to build the Temple. David was not discouraged by this; that God wasn’t going to use him but rather prepared the required resources his son would need to build the House of God.

Most often God would call and use the young and inexperienced to build and execute a great vision. It is the role and duty of the old to support them in preparation for that work, by making adequate preparation before their departure. This was exactly what David for young Solomon.

Previous generations have squandered the resources the present generation would use to execute today’s vision because it was not them God chose to use!

I believe every believer must carry the same heart David had. Prosperity is not a tool for self aggrandizement or a means to perpetuate our greed and deceit, No! It is a tool to build the House of God. It is great wisdom to refuse prosperity if we know we have no purpose for it, because the Bible says, “Getting rich quick may turn out to be a curse” Pro 20:21.

Society grows when men plant trees whose shade they would never sit under.

David thought, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the temple that will be built for the LORD must be magnificent, large, famous, praised, and honored in all other countries. I’ll prepare the building materials for him.” So David prepared many materials for Solomon before he died (1Ch 22:5).

David was not afraid that Solomon would mismanage the abundant of prosperity being committed into his custody to build the House of God. Why? Because he knew quite well that those who have a purpose for prosperity will hardly mismanage it!  He only prayed for God’s wisdom and understanding for this young man who was about to experience great prosperity in the cause of building God’s house.

Solomon didn’t have to work so hard to acquire what he would need to build or execute the vision of God for him. He got it by inheritance. The next generations of leaders do not have to struggle to carryout their God given vision if this present generation of leaders begins to understand the importance of leaving an inheritance.

Some of those who will experience prosperity may not be called like David to build or even carryout a great assignment for the Lord. Nevertheless, with great wealth of prosperity at your disposal you can support those God have given a vision to build through your generous giving.

Like Solomon, Ndubuisi Eke Ministries International (NEMI) is divinely called by God to build for the LORD a house that must be magnificent, large, famous, praised, and honored in all other countries of the world!

I CHALLENGE  YOU TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE CHARGE TO BUILD FOR THE LORD!!!

THE MYSTERY OF THE ONE TENTH

The Haiti earthquake shocked the whole world as it rendered families homeless another earthquake has struck Japan once again. But the difference this time is that we have all seen it and the devastating Tsunami that followed as pictures were beamed around the world. We have had a window on the mighty forces of nature and their ruthless impact on humanity like never before.

This should register a very important truth in our heart that unless I have my wealth anchored in something beyond the natural I am liable to be a victim of lives unfortunate moments.

It is impossible for God’s people not to be driven to pray for those affected!!!

Like Moses we pray, ‘Teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom’ (Ps 90:12).

As a Church we are committed to praying for those affected by this tragedy. By so doing we also remind ourselves that we must not let one day pass without making it count, living with an appropriate sense of urgency and purpose. Let not one day pass when we do not turn our hearts to heaven and pray for the lost and hurting humanity around us – and then move into action to be bringers of the hope and restoration only God offers.

This should remind us as a church of our role as ambassador of Christ. Ambassador’s resources comes from their nation. We must have enough heavenly resources to fund every earthly need. We are the compensation in the lives of those Satan has robbed of joy, peace, and prosperity.

Please join to pray…
